The Forum helps dedicated young people overcome the barriers between them and their goals. We connect them directly with people who believe in their potential — whether through athletics, fishing, or other life-shaping experiences.
Fishing is an extension of The Forum’s promise to guide young adults past the challenges that stand in their way. By sharing his love for the sea, we carry forward his legacy, helping the next generation navigate toward excellence.
Cyril Langevine came to The Forum at age 15, where he was guided and supported through both academics and athletics. Once struggling—failing his freshman year of high school—he went on to thrive, making the Dean’s List at the University of Rhode Island while playing under Coach Danny Hurley (who has since won two of the last three National Championships).
After graduating in 2020, Cyril has played professionally in Europe for five consecutive seasons, competing in Sweden, Poland, Greece, Italy, France, and again in Greece. This year he begins a new chapter playing in Israel. His journey reflects how education, opportunity, and exposure to different cultures can shape not only a career but a life.
Wendell Black joined The Forum family in 1986, when at just 22 years old he traveled to Montauk, New York to work as a mate with Captain Roy on the Jamdl. Mentored by Roy, and building on his early years washing boats as a teenager, Wendell has grown into one of the most accomplished captains in the sport fishing world.
Today Wendell manages a fleet of sport fishing boats in Costa Rica and Florida, and has become a dominant force in international tournaments across the Bahamas, Bermuda, Florida, and Costa Rica—competitions that involve millions of dollars in prize money. Wendell’s reputation in sport fishing circles, from Costa Rica to Bermuda, is nothing short of legendary.
You Never Know Who You May Be Helping — Some of the most famous people of today once struggled and were ignored by society. A few found someone who believed in them. Many never did. Let’s believe. Let’s help. Let’s expand the list of success stories.
The Forum encourages young people to stay committed to their aspirations by providing the support, mentorship, and resources they need to overcome barriers. We focus on personal, educational, and professional growth, helping dedicated young achievers reach excellence in school, career, and life.
Every donation directly supports a specific young adult, so they know your help comes from a real person — and you can share in the satisfaction of hands-on helping.
